Why you're here
We have sent your referral on to a “Secondary Care” provider – usually a local hospital – for further assessment. This means we’re asking for you to be seen by a more specialist team. This may include Orthopaedics, Rheumatology or Pain Management, alongside other further MSK treatment not covered by Circle Integrated Care.
What happens next
When we set up a referral to secondary care, a letter is produced on the referral system, which should be sent to you.
This letter will usually give you a rough idea of how long it will take for them to offer you an appointment, and also how they will contact you to make the appointment. It will also tell you how to contact them if you need to.
If you haven’t heard from them by the date provided in the letter, you can contact them directly to ask for an update on the progress of your referral.
Need help?
Neither Circle Integrated Care nor your GP has any control over appointments at secondary care providers, so if you need to ask any questions it’s usually best for you to contact them directly yourself.
If your condition becomes significantly worse while you’re waiting for your appointment, please contact your GP in the first instance, who will be best placed to help and advise you; they may then provide more information to Circle or to the secondary care provider, but there is no guarantee that your appointment will be changed.
